Media Personality Guy Golden Accuses Former Friend Assiag of Betraying Ideals for Money

Israeli media personality Guy Golden revealed details about his career transitions and personal relationships in a recent podcast interview. Golden, currently a panelist on Channel 13, discussed his move to Channel 14 and subsequent return to Channel 13, recounting the intense backlash he faced from the left-wing camp, which he described as "professional annihilation attempts" aimed at damaging his livelihood and reputation.

However, Golden also expressed deep disappointment with reactions from the right following his return to a more centrist position. A significant part of his discussion focused on his fractured relationship with screenwriter Meni Assiag, a former close friend. Golden recounted that Assiag had previously assured him that their friendship would endure regardless of ideological shifts.

Golden stated that after he spoke at the "Hostages Square" rally, Assiag posted a harsh criticism of him. Golden expressed personal hurt over this, while Assiag, in turn, launched a strong counterattack. Assiag claimed he ended their friendship after Golden referred to politicians Yair Golan and Shkima Bresler as "his brothers," stating, "Whoever is the brother of these creatures cannot be my friend."

Assiag vehemently denied Golden's account of their private conversations, asserting, "I didn't know the guy was a liar, and here he is brazenly lying because I never told him what he claims." Assiag concluded by implying Golden had compromised his ideology for financial gain, stating, "Always believe those who don't flip-flop every two days, and those who gave up a lot of money for ideology, not those who gave up a lot of ideology for money."
