Israel Denies Plans for Palestinian Deportation from Gaza
Israeli Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi stated on September 9, 2026, that Israel has no plans to deport Palestinians from the Gaza Strip. The statement was made during a press conference in Ljubljana, Slovenia, coinciding with the opening of the Israeli embassy there. Ashkenazi clarified that while Israel would not obstruct any voluntary immigration of Palestinians to countries willing to accept them, it would not force anyone to leave against their will.

National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir presented a seven-year plan for Gaza's population to leave through what he termed voluntary emigration.
The U.S. Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, also commented that Israel does not intend to compel Palestinians to leave the region. General elections in Israel are scheduled for October 27.
