Israeli Auto Industry Sees Wave of Executive Appointments

Several major Israeli automotive importers have announced significant executive appointments and promotions in recent months. These moves involve both internal promotions and the hiring of experienced professionals from competing firms.

At Smel, two key positions have been filled. In June, Dana Ravid-Menachem was appointed Vice President of the Premium Division, having previously managed the Genesis brand for the importer, and before that, served as Marketing Vice President for Mercedes. Additionally, Shi Keran was appointed Vice President of "Smel for Business" earlier this month. Keran previously held the position of Service Vice President at the Metro Group and will replace Ronen Levi, who will continue to assist the importer on various projects.

In a significant leadership change, the board of directors at Chamobil approved the appointment of Assaf Haralap as Chairman of the company last week. He succeeds his father, Dr. Shmuel Haralap, who passed away last month. Assaf Haralap has been with Chamobil for approximately 20 years, managing various divisions and brands, and most recently served as an active board member.

Union Motors Group has also announced a series of internal promotions and appointments. Dror Gornik will transition from CEO of Lexus Israel to Chairman of Union Mobility and Chairman of Union Industrial Vehicles, while retaining his board position in the Union Motors vehicle division. Itay Hayon Levin is set to become the new CEO of Lexus Israel. Dor Pickel will assume the role of Sales and Product Vice President for Toyota Israel, and Aryeh Leib will be appointed CEO of Union Mobility. These appointments are scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2027.
