Bnei Sakhnin is undergoing a major management shake-up, with chairman Mohammed Abu Younes set to step down after 15 years in the role. After a long round of talks, former general manager Khaled Duki is expected to take over and lead the club into the upcoming Premier League season.
Abu Younes had announced in recent months that he wanted to leave. Initial discussions were held with current CEO Yosef Badarna, but they did not lead to a deal. Sakhnin mayor Mazen Ganaim then tried to build cooperation between Abu Younes and Duki, and after multiple meetings, the sides reached an agreement on Monday night during a meeting at the club’s accountant.
Under the arrangement, Duki will become the new chairman of Bnei Sakhnin and will also provide financial backing to the club. The move is considered highly significant for Sakhnin because Abu Younes served in the position for many years, but he was determined to leave and has now ended his tenure.
On the sporting side, coach Yossi Abukasis and his staff will remain in place. The club is now accelerating preparations for the new season, with a training camp already set and efforts focused on building the squad backbone.
