Bnei Sakhnin pushes to reconcile Abu Younes and Dukhi amid leadership uncertainty
Bnei Sakhnin are working behind the scenes on a possible reunion between club chairman Muhammad Abu Younes and former general manager Khaled Dukhi, as pressure grows on Abu Younes to stay on and on Dukhi to return to the club’s management. According to Sport 5, people close to the team and to the Sakhnin municipality are trying to unite the two businessmen so they can lead the club next season.
At the same time, coach Yossi Abukasis is continuing to build the squad. One of his main goals is to sign an experienced goalkeeper, and it is still unclear how that would affect Muhammad Abu Nil, who has been Sakhnin’s keeper for the past two seasons. The club has already set a training camp, ordered kits, and informed Alon Azougi and Muhammad Ganameh that their options for next season have been exercised.
Off the field, uncertainty remains over who will run the club. Abu Younes has announced he will definitely step down and has asked Sakhnin mayor Mazen Ganaim to find a replacement, but so far without success. Talks with the current general manager, Yusef Badarna, collapsed after he wanted the club.
There is also pressure on Abu Younes to continue for another season, with his money already tied up in the Israel Football Association’s budgetary control. Dukhi has so far declined to comment, but he previously also invested money to help the club pass financial oversight.
