Ashdod Receives National Education Award in Jerusalem Ceremony

The city of Ashdod was honored with the National Education Award for the 2025-2026 school year at a ceremony held this week at the International Convention Center in Jerusalem. Education Minister Yoav Kisch presented the award to Ashdod Mayor Dr. Yechiel Lasri.

Mayor Lasri stated that the award belongs to all Ashdod residents, attributing it to the consistent, long-term efforts of teaching staff, principals, parents, and students. He emphasized the city's commitment to excellence with compassion, ensuring no child is left behind while striving for high achievement, asserting that this national recognition validates their approach. He noted the award as a fitting gift for the city's 70th anniversary.

The ceremony was attended by head of the Education Administration Yehudit Biton, department heads from the administration, and educational institution principals from Ashdod, alongside a large delegation celebrating the city's accomplishment. This marks Ashdod's second national education award, following a district-level award. The win coincides with Ashdod's 70th anniversary celebrations.

Yehudit Biton, head of the Education Administration, highlighted that the national award acknowledges the daily work in every school and kindergarten across the city. She credited teachers for their dedication beyond requirements and students for demonstrating achievable success in Ashdod. Biton expressed pride in the collective effort of the city's educational leaders, stating they will continue to advance.
