IDF Chief of Staff Visits Wounded Soldiers Ahead of Jewish New Year

The Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), Eyal Zamir, visited the Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer on Tuesday to meet with soldiers injured in military operations in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon. The visit, occurring just days before Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, saw the general tour various hospital wards and speak with soldiers and commanders, particularly from infantry and armored brigades.

Zamir discussed the circumstances of their injuries, their health status, and their rehabilitation progress with the wounded servicemen and their families. "I came to see you before the new year, and I am moved by what I have seen here," he told them. "You stood on the front lines, you led, and you risked your lives in combat against the enemy. This is heroism. You are now facing a new battle that also requires courage: that of your recovery."

The Chief of Staff assured the injured soldiers that the IDF would support them throughout their convalescence. "The entire army and I deeply appreciate your sacrifice and contribution. It is our duty to accompany you throughout your rehabilitation. We are with you every step of the way," he added.

Eyal Zamir also commended the efforts of the medical teams, liaison officers, and personnel supporting the casualties. "I salute you. May this year be better: a year of security and hope, of unity and victory," he concluded.
