Zvika Fogel Explains Departure from Otzma Yehudit Party

Member of Knesset Zvika Fogel has addressed speculation surrounding his decision not to run with the Otzma Yehudit party in the upcoming elections. Fogel clarified that his departure was not due to demands for a ministerial position, stating, "The decision to part ways was not a result of setting conditions for a ministerial role."

He revealed that during a conversation about forming the party's list, Otzma Yehudit leader Itamar Ben-Gvir informed him of his intention to build a list with a different character. Ben-Gvir indicated that Fogel's "state-oriented approach" did not align with his vision for the next list.

Fogel stated that he respects Ben-Gvir's decision to choose his collaborators and expressed satisfaction with his own conduct as a Knesset member, chairman of the National Security Committee, and head of the Otzma Yehudit faction. He highlighted the achievements of the past four years and the methods used to attain them.

Following the public speculation, Fogel noted receiving tens of thousands of messages from the public, prompting him to share his account of the separation. He concluded by wishing his colleagues in Otzma Yehudit and the coalition success in the elections and extended blessings for a good life and a blessed year.

Fogel's comments come after reports suggested disagreements over his potential role in the next government were the reason for his decision.
