Barcelona Includes Israeli Prospect Orien Goren in Champions League Squad
Israeli youth player Orien Goren has been included in Barcelona's expanded squad for their Champions League opener against Feyenoord at Camp Nou. Despite impressing during preseason with the senior team and performing well for the club's reserve team, Goren will not be part of the final matchday squad and will not play.
The final squad consists of 23 players, excluding Eric Garcia who is suspended from last season. New signings like Rodri, Karim Adeyemi, Antony Gordon, and Gabriel Jesus are included.
Goren recently garnered praise in Spain after an assist with his shoulder in a reserve team match against Naxara. Catalan sports outlet 'Sport' lauded him, stating, "The Israeli Goren is gradually becoming the central engine of Barcelona's reserve team." Following a strong preseason with the first team, manager Juliano Belletti reportedly gave Goren the keys to the reserve team.
Barcelona's Champions League campaign will see them face Galatasaray, PSG, Aston Villa, Sabah, Manchester City, Sporting Lisbon, and Como in the league stage after their match against Feyenoord.
