Maccabi Tel Aviv Eyes Ukrainian Defender Oleksandr Syrota
Maccabi Tel Aviv is exploring the possibility of signing Oleksandr Syrota, a 26-year-old Ukrainian defender currently with Dynamo Kyiv. Syrota, who previously played for Maccabi Haifa in the 2024 summer, is not currently in Dynamo Kyiv's plans, prompting Maccabi Tel Aviv to investigate a potential transfer to bolster their defensive lineup. Syrota is Jewish, and Hapoel Be'er Sheva had also considered him earlier in the summer.
Syrota made 26 appearances for Maccabi Haifa, scoring twice, before returning to Dynamo Kyiv. His career prior to Maccabi Haifa included extensive play with Dynamo Kyiv, and loan spells in Turkey with Kocaelispor and Umraniyespor during the previous season. He has represented Ukraine at the U-17 and U-21 levels, and has two caps for the senior national team. Despite returning to Dynamo Kyiv at the start of the current season, he has yet to make an appearance.
In parallel with their transfer market activities, Maccabi Tel Aviv is preparing for their derby match against Hapoel Tel Aviv on Monday. Coach Keni Valverde may field the same lineup that secured a decisive 4-1 victory over Hapoel Be'er Sheva in the previous round.
