Israeli Navy Chief Warns Turkey, Others Against Maritime Threats

The Commander of the Israeli Navy issued a stern warning to Turkey and other entities posing distant maritime threats, stating that "distance will not grant immunity to those who seek to harm us." Speaking on Tuesday, the commander emphasized that in the current era, there are no longer "distant fronts," and any actor attempting to operate against Israel from afar should be aware that proximity will not offer protection.

The Navy commander asserted that the Israeli Navy is built to project the power of Israel and the IDF even thousands of miles from its shores. He highlighted that the military is closely monitoring and preparing for attempts to alter the balance of power in the Mediterranean and Red Seas. The Navy will not tolerate threats to Israel's strategic interests or its freedom of maritime operations, vowing that forces will act "openly and secretly, to fulfill our responsibility and mission in every way."

These remarks coincide with a significant naval buildup. The sixth submarine, INS Drakon, is currently en route to Israel. This strategic enhancement also includes the advancement of Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir's "Hosen" program and the acquisition of new Reshef-class missile ships.
