Police Nab Illegal Immigrant Hiding in Golan Heights Sewer During Raid

On September 1, 2026, during a raid on a guest complex in the Ramot settlement on the Golan Heights, police officers apprehended three Palestinian men from Hebron who were in Israel illegally. Two men, aged 19 and 35, were initially stopped while driving an electric utility vehicle on the property. During questioning, it was revealed they lacked permits to be in Israel. A third suspect, aged 29, fled the scene and hid in a sewer. Police located him after following his tracks to a manhole, which he had pulled shut behind him. After repeated calls, the exhausted and injured man emerged and was arrested. Rescue teams from the fire department and ambulance services were called to the scene due to concerns for his well-being. All three were taken to a police station. On September 7, the Kiryat Shmona prosecutor's office filed charges against the three men for illegal entry into Israel and obstructing police officers. The commander of the Northern Police District, Major General Meir Eliyahu, ordered the guest complex closed for 30 days administratively, citing the owners' alleged employment of illegal workers.
