Illegal Immigrants Caught in Golan Heights, One Escapes into Sewer

Police in northern Israel arrested three illegal residents from Hebron who were staying at a guest house complex in the community of Ramot, located in the Golan Heights. The arrests occurred during a proactive operation where officers noticed two suspects in a utility vehicle. Upon stopping them for inspection, police discovered they were 19 and 35-year-old illegal residents.

Simultaneously, a third suspect, a 29-year-old from Hebron, fled from officers and entered a sewage pipe. Despite repeated calls from the police to exit, the suspect did not comply. Concerned for his safety, rescue forces, firefighters, and paramedics were summoned to the scene. After further appeals from the police, the man emerged from the pipe exhausted and injured.

All three suspects were apprehended and taken to the police station. Their detention was extended periodically, and a prosecutor's office in Kiryat Shmona has since filed an indictment against them. The charges include entering or residing in Israel unlawfully and obstructing a police officer in the line of duty.

Following the incident, the Commander of the Northern District, Superintendent Meir Eliyahu, ordered the guest house business to be closed for 30 days. The police stated that enforcement operations against businesses that employ, transport, or shelter illegal residents are ongoing.
