New Likud Member Forgoes Knesset Seat for Colleague
Amir Aviv, founder of the 'Bithonistim' movement, announced on Sunday that he is relinquishing his reserved spot on the Likud party's Knesset list. Aviv, who was slated to enter the Knesset as a Member of Knesset (MK) due to his high placement on the list, stated that he is foregoing his "armor", a reference to the protected Knesset seat, to allow MK Avichai Boaron to enter the parliament.
Aviv explained his decision by saying that he wants to enable Boaron, who is currently a Member of Knesset, to continue his parliamentary work. Aviv himself will serve as an external minister, a role outside of the Knesset. The move comes as part of Likud's internal political maneuvering to accommodate various party figures.
