Ex-Labor MK Eli Goldschmidt Joins Likud Party List
The Likud party announced that former Knesset Member Eli Goldschmidt, who previously served under the Labor Party banner and even chaired its Knesset faction, will be placed on the Likud's list for the upcoming Knesset elections. Goldschmidt's addition comes as part of a broader effort by Likud to incorporate new candidates into its slate.
According to the party's statement, Goldschmidt, who resided in the Gaza envelope region for many years, underwent a process of "awakening" following the events of October 7th. Likud asserts that he has since shifted his political and security stances, now aligning with the positions of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Likud party, and the national camp.
The Likud highlighted Goldschmidt's political history and his evolving views as valuable assets to the party's list. They stated that he brings "an important, experienced, and sober voice," along with his public and political experience and his understanding of diverse perspectives within Israeli society.
