New Remix of 'I Connect Myself' Released Ahead of Rosh Hashanah Pilgrimage

The story · English

In anticipation of Rosh Hashanah and the mass pilgrimage to Uman, the "Thank You Hashem" organization has released an energetic remix of the song "Hareni Mekasher" (I Connect Myself). The new, upbeat version is a collaboration with DJ Farbreng, Moshe Storch, and AFIkoMAN, timed as tens of thousands of Hasidim and believers make their way to the tomb of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov.

The song is based on the prayer "Hareni Mekasher Atzmi," attributed to Rabbi Natan of Breslov, which was written following Rabbi Nachman's instruction to say before prayer, "I connect myself to all the righteous of our generation." Over the years, the text has been expanded to include connecting one's thoughts, speech, actions, desires, and intentions to the true tzaddikim, particularly Rabbi Nachman.

The "Thank You Hashem" organization, which is behind the song, originated from a group of friends in Five Towns, New York. During a Shabbat visit to Safed, they were inspired by a local Jew who simply said "Thank You Hashem," which became the foundation for their organization.

The melody for "Hareni Mekasher Atzmi" was composed by Aharon Segal, with Izzy Darham responsible for the arrangement and Mendi Portnoy for the production.
