Protesters Leave "Attorney General" Wreath at Candidate Ofer Winter's Home

Right-wing activists placed a wreath at the home of Ofer Winter, chairman of the "Am Israel" party, in protest of his decision to run independently in the upcoming elections. The wreath, bearing the inscription "With heartfelt thanks, Gali Baharav-Miara," was intended to suggest that Winter's independent run could harm the right-wing bloc. The protest follows days of pressure on Winter to unite with other right-wing parties.

Despite these efforts, Winter submitted his party's list to the Knesset, signaling his intention to compete independently. The "Am Israel" party responded to the wreath incident, stating that the protesters had the wrong address and should send flowers to those who failed to dismiss the Attorney General over four years. They criticized the protesters for focusing on "gimmicks and flowers" while "Am Israel" intended to enact change.

Bezalel Smotrich, chairman of the Religious Zionism party, criticized Winter's refusal to unite, stating that only figures like Gali Baharav-Miara and Yitzhak Amit from the left would benefit. Smotrich expressed disappointment in Winter's "stubborn refusal" to unite the national camp, questioning his judgment and commitment to recommending Benjamin Netanyahu for prime minister.

Winter, however, has maintained that his party is part of the right-wing bloc and intends to recommend Netanyahu for prime minister. He has also set conditions for joining a future Netanyahu-led government, including the passage of a conscription law before the government is sworn in. Winter stated that "Am Israel" is open to political alliances but only with "new" partners.
