Vizhnitz Rebbe Leads First Penitential Prayers of Season
The Vizhnitz Rebbe led the first penitential prayers, known as Selichot, following the Sabbath on Saturday night. He officiated the service, which took place under the auspices of the Vizhnitz Hasidic dynasty.
During the prayers, the Rebbe was seen wrapped in a tallit, a prayer shawl, which was a legacy item inherited from his father, the previous Vizhnitz Rebbe, Rabbi Moshe, known as the 'Yeshuot Moshe'.
Following the Selichot service, Hasidim engaged in singing sacred melodies, described as an outpouring of the soul and an awakening in anticipation of the High Holy Days, which are approaching.
