Political Candidate Stuns TV Interview by Tossing Dollars, Explains Royal Attire
Eitan Shvili, also known as "Shervil the King" and chairman of the "Shervil for Love and Unity of the People" party, made a dramatic appearance on a Channel 12 interview, wearing a crown, diamonds, and a robe. At one point during the interview with hosts Avri Gilad and Yair Sherki, Shvili threw dollar bills in the studio.
Shvili explained that his extravagant attire is not merely for attention but serves as a unique psychological defense mechanism for his post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). He described the crown, robe, and jewelry as a protective 'balloon' that shields him from harm, a method he claims originated in Amsterdam.
He previously garnered attention by arriving at the Knesset, Israel's parliament, in the same regal outfit to submit his party's list. Shvili declared his intention to run for leadership of the country and introduced "Queen Tami," a travel agent listed second on his party's slate. He stated that a primary goal of his party is to represent hundreds of thousands of individuals suffering from PTSD and combat trauma, as well as Holocaust survivors, families, children, and teenagers facing ostracism, and to promote a basket of life-saving medications.
Shvili's ostentatious lifestyle is consistent with his public persona. He claims to own four Mercedes cars, employ bodyguards, and wear a crown valued at approximately $245,000 shekels. He also presents himself as a philanthropist, distributing money, donating to soldiers and families, and visiting wounded individuals in rehabilitation wards. He insisted that behind his royal facade lies a serious mission: to enter the Knesset, represent those with PTSD, and unite the Israeli public.
