Firefighters from the Binyamin district rescued a baby girl earlier today after she was left for an extended time inside a locked car on Mavo Hama Street in Givat Ze'ev. When the crew arrived, they found the vehicle secured and the infant still inside.
The firefighters immediately broke a car window, removed the baby and handed her over for medical treatment. According to the first report from the scene, the child had apparently been forgotten in the vehicle for a prolonged period.
Crew commander Staff Sgt. Oren Bitton said he saw the baby in the car and that she was red and almost unresponsive. He said he broke the window, opened the doors, pulled her out and then assisted medical teams during treatment.
Bitton warned that these are hot days and that temperatures inside cars rise rapidly in a short time. He urged drivers to make sure all children have exited the car before leaving it, saying this can save lives.
