A three-month-old baby girl was rescued on Wednesday in serious condition from a locked vehicle on Ma'ale HaChama Street in Givat Ze'ev after being left inside for a prolonged period in the heat. Emergency crews reached the scene and found the infant trapped in the car.
Firefighters broke a window to free her. The commander of the fire team from the Binyamin area, Warrant Officer Oren Biton, said, “As soon as I arrived, I identified the car with the infant inside, and she was red and almost not responding.”
The rescue teams and medical personnel provided initial treatment at the scene. She was then taken to Shaare Zedek Medical Center with signs of heatstroke, but her condition was later described as stable.
Biton warned that during hot days, temperatures inside a car rise rapidly in a very short time, and urged parents to make sure all children have exited before locking the vehicle, saying this can save lives. The incident comes after a similar case earlier this month, when a four-month-old boy was evacuated in serious condition after spending a long time in a closed car in a settlement in the Sdot Dan Regional Council area. In that case too, Magen David Adom medics and paramedics gave life-saving treatment after he showed signs of heatstroke.
