Bennett's 'Yachad' Party Faces Internal Backlash Over Union With Yesh Atid

Internal dissent has erupted within Naftali Bennett's 'Yachad' party just one day after the formal announcement of its union with Yair Lapid's 'Yesh Atid' party. Reports indicate that activists are expressing significant anger and disappointment over the composition of the joint candidate list and the perceived ideological direction of the political alliance.

According to a report by journalist Anna Barshak in 'Maariv', internal communications among 'Yachad' activists reveal widespread concern that the merged list lacks sufficient representation from the right-wing camp. This, they fear, will severely hinder Bennett's ability to attract voters from the national camp. "We are establishing a left-wing party this time," one activist wrote in a group discussion, with another responding that Bennett's appeal was precisely his ability to draw right-wing votes, which is now compromised if the list resembles 'Yesh Atid'.

Activists are voicing strong criticism about the loss of the party's distinct identity and its perceived assimilation into Lapid's 'Yesh Atid'. Many feel the combined list offers no differentiation from Lapid's party, questioning Bennett's role in the union. Some activists have labeled the merger with 'Yesh Atid' a "mistake," while others are focused on identifying right-wing figures who could broaden appeal without alienating existing supporters.

Beyond ideological concerns, there are also complaints regarding the placement of candidates on the list and the exclusion of prominent figures. Questions have been raised about why certain individuals, like Avir Kara, were not included, with some calling it a "major electoral mistake." Additionally, activists are demanding clarity on the ideological stances of the candidates, expressing confusion about their views on various issues.
