Rabbi Shternbuch Blesses 'Prison 1000' Initiative Supporting Torah Scholars

Rabbi Mordechai Gross, known as HaGaon Rabbi M. Shternbuch, has publicly endorsed and blessed the "Prison 1000" initiative, a project aimed at providing financial support to Torah scholars arrested due to their studies. The Rabbi reviewed the project's details and offered his encouragement to those involved and to all participants.

His blessing comes during the period of repentance and preparation for the Jewish New Year, adding special significance to his support for Torah scholars. The initiative, which has the backing of prominent rabbis, offers 1,000 Israeli shekels for each day a Torah scholar is detained for studying. It also provides a support network for the scholars and their families during difficult times.

The "Prison 1000" project operates on a mutual aid fund model. Members contribute to a central fund, and if an arrest occurs, the financial burden is shared among all participants. The goal is to ensure financial security for families, assist with associated expenses, and foster a broad sense of community responsibility.

A rabbinical oversight committee, composed of leading judges and legal authorities, has been established to manage the initiative. This committee guides the fund's operations and resolves any halachic or practical questions that arise. Rabbi Shternbuch's endorsement follows similar blessings from other prominent rabbis, bolstering the initiative, which is currently experiencing a surge in participation across communities nationwide.
