Belz Hasidic Faction Appoints New Knesset Representative

The Belz Hasidic movement is undergoing a generational shift within its political representation. Rabbi Yisrael Eichler, who has served for years as a Member of Knesset and the faction's representative in the United Torah Judaism party, is transitioning to the role of chairman of the "Machzikei Hadat" movement. He will be succeeded in the Knesset by Rabbi Elyakim Stark.

The move was made with the blessing of the Grand Rabbi of Belz. Last week, leaders of the Machzikei Hadat movement, Eichler and Stark, received the Rebbe's blessing for their continued work for Haredi Judaism in Israel, especially given the current complex period and challenges.

Under the new arrangement, Eichler will lead the Machzikei Hadat movement, guiding its direction and overseeing its representatives in municipalities and branches across the country. Stark will serve as the movement's representative in the Knesset and will be integrated into the United Torah Judaism list for the 26th Knesset, entering the parliamentary arena as the new face of Belz. Eichler will continue to lead the movement's public and municipal efforts.

In contrast to recent leadership changes in other Haredi parties, Belz emphasizes that this transition is occurring with full unity and cooperation between the parties. Eichler and Stark are expected to continue working together in coordination. A statement from the movement indicated that both expressed gratitude for the public trust and pledged to "continue to work together in full and coordinated cooperation as has been the case until now, for the benefit of the public and the individual."

This transition signifies an orderly generational handover, with the outgoing generation making way in parliament for the incoming one, while maintaining continuity, unity, and the ongoing public activities of the Machzikei Hadat movement.
