Maccabi Haifa Fan Group Fails to Reconcile with Player Yarin Levi

The "Green Monkeys" fan organization of Maccabi Haifa has confirmed that attempts to reconcile with player Yarin Levi have failed. Levi, who rejoined Maccabi Haifa last summer, faced backlash from the fan group after refusing to sing against his former team, Beitar Jerusalem, during an open training session. Consequently, the organization did not cheer for him during the team's initial games of the season.

In a statement released on Monday, the Green Monkeys explained their policy: "It's no secret that players arriving from our major rivals do not receive encouragement in their early days at Maccabi." They clarified that they do not prevent other fans from supporting such players, stating, "We can debate all day whether this approach is right or not. But it's a fact, this is our approach, this is our choice, and there's no need to make a mountain out of a molehill."

Regarding Levi specifically, the organization revealed that they approached him before the team's training camp to "smooth things over and start with a clean slate for the new season," following his singing incident at Beitar. "This reconciliation attempt was unsuccessful, and unfortunately, we cannot elaborate further at this stage, but this is the current situation: we are neither cheering nor cursing him," the statement concluded.
