Nauru Opens Ninth Embassy in Jerusalem, Strengthening Ties with Israel
A formal ceremony marked the opening of the Republic of Nauru's embassy in Jerusalem, Israel's capital. The event was attended by Nauru's Vice President and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Lionel Rouwen Aingimea, and Israel's Foreign Minister, Gideon Saar.
Saar expressed gratitude for Nauru's consistent support on the international stage, particularly within the United Nations and the International Court of Justice. He emphasized Nauru's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital, calling them "one of Israel's most loyal and steadfast friends."
Vice President Aingimea stated that Nauru's motto is "God first" and that Israel holds a special place in their hearts, believing that supporting Israel will bring divine blessings. Nauru is now the ninth country to establish an embassy in Jerusalem.
In total, eleven nations have expressed their intention to relocate their diplomatic missions to Jerusalem. Most recently, on September 3rd, the Foreign Minister of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Therese Kayikwamba Wagner, announced their intent to do so.
