Nauru to Open Embassy in Jerusalem, Becoming Ninth Nation to Do So
Nauru's Vice President and Foreign Minister, Lionel Aingimea, met with Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar in Jerusalem on Tuesday evening ahead of a significant diplomatic move: the official opening of Nauru's embassy in the capital on Wednesday. This will make Nauru the ninth country to establish its embassy in Jerusalem.
During their meeting, Sa'ar expressed deep appreciation for Nauru, describing it as a steadfast and friendly nation that consistently and resolutely stands with Israel, even in complex international arenas. The two ministers discussed a range of strategic issues aimed at strengthening and expanding economic, political, and technological cooperation between their countries.
Following the meeting, Foreign Minister Sa'ar pledged that the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs would continue to work determinedly to bolster Jerusalem's international standing and to persuade additional countries to follow Nauru's example.
