Fallen Officer's Twin Daughters Sing Moving Tribute to Their Father

The twin daughters of Major (Res.) Harel Birnstock, who was killed in action in southern Lebanon about a month ago, have released a touching rendition of Idan Raichel's song "A Message from Another Life." The video of Uri and Gefen Birnstock, aged eight, singing the song has resonated widely online.

Major Birnstock, a 34-year-old reservist company commander in the 55th Brigade from the settlement of Nokdim, is survived by his wife Elia and their four children: the twins Uri and Gefen, Mayeen (5), and Ziv-Israel (1.5 years old). He was known for his deep care for his soldiers, often advocating for their needs with their civilian employers during numerous combat rotations in Gaza, Lebanon, and Syria.

Friends have launched a fundraising campaign to support Birnstock's bereaved family, emphasizing their strength and sacrifice during his three years of intense combat. The campaign aims to provide a stable foundation for Elia and the children as they navigate their future.

Birnstock fell during a sweep operation in southern Lebanon. His unit was searching previously uninspected sites when their squad entered a booby-trapped house, causing a partial collapse due to an explosive device.

His widow, Elia, eulogized him, promising to be strong for their children and remembering his bright smile, charisma, and joyful spirit. She urged others to remember Harel Birnstock with the same warmth and light he brought into every room.
