Jerusalem Citizen Shoots, Critically Wounds Knife-Wielding Robber

A dramatic incident unfolded in Jerusalem's Givat Shaul neighborhood when a citizen withdrawing money from an ATM was attacked by a knife-wielding assailant. The citizen, who was licensed to carry a firearm, drew his personal weapon and shot the robber, critically wounding him. The gunfire caused widespread panic, with bystanders initially fearing a terrorist attack. Initial reports to police and rescue services heightened tensions due to concerns of a security incident.

According to a preliminary investigation by Moriah police station officers, the event began when a man in his 30s approached the citizen, brandishing a knife and demanding the cash. The targeted citizen, remaining calm, quickly drew his handgun and fired at the attacker to neutralize the threat.

The loud gunshots in the main street of the neighborhood led to mass panic. Paramedics from Magen David Adom and United Hatzalah provided life-saving medical treatment to the wounded robber and evacuated him in serious condition to Shaare Zedek Medical Center.
