Man Arrested for Attacking Neighbors with Knife Over Eyal Golan Music

A violent incident occurred in Ashdod over the weekend when a resident was arrested for allegedly breaking into a neighbor's apartment armed with a large kitchen knife and pepper spray. The suspect was reportedly enraged by the playing of songs by Israeli singer Eyal Golan on the apartment's balcony. He then allegedly proceeded to the neighbors' floor via elevator, forced his way into their home, and attacked the residents.

A witness described the terrifying moments, stating, "He opened the door and entered the house when children were there. He tried to stab us, and then he fled. When I went out after him, he sprayed me with pepper spray." Another neighbor recounted seeing the suspect run out of his home barefoot, shouting in anger, "Who is playing Eyal Golan?".

Several men attempted to subdue the attacker but were met with violence, including being sprayed with pepper spray. Those inside the apartment, including guests, suffered from choking, breathing difficulties, and vomiting due to the spray. Despite attempts to control him, fear of the knife prevented immediate intervention.

Police arrived at the scene, apprehended the suspect, confiscated the knife, and took him for questioning. A Magistrate's Court in Ashkelon ordered his detention extended by four days. Following the incident, building residents expressed significant fear and anger, revealing that this was not an isolated event. One resident stated this was the fourth such incident involving the suspect with different neighbors, and that he had been previously arrested and released.

Another resident urged that the suspect be kept in custody, warning, "He must not be released. He could murder people. By a miracle, this incident ended without disaster."
