Israeli Parties Unite for Knesset Elections Amid Shifting Alliances
Yoaz Hendel, head of the "Reservists" party, and prominent economist Yaron Zaliha of the "Al-Calcalit" party have agreed to merge their lists and run together in the upcoming 26th Knesset elections. This development follows an earlier announcement that Hendel's "Reservists" and Hili Tropper's "Bait Tzioni" would contest the elections separately. Reports indicate that Tropper is nearing a separate agreement to join forces with Gadi Eisenkot's "Yashar" party.
According to journalist Amit Segal, within the "Yashar" list, Segal and Shira Shapiro are slated for significant positions, while Eliasafe Peretz will receive a "borderline" spot. Eisenkot had reportedly expressed strong opposition to Hendel joining his party, fearing Hendel might leave the list if a minority government were formed. Potential alliances for Hendel had previously included Benny Gantz's "Blue and White" party and Zaliha's "Al-Calcalit."
