Israel Strikes Hezbollah Targets in Southern Lebanon After Drone Attack
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced Sunday that it conducted airstrikes against Hezbollah operatives and infrastructure in southern Lebanon. The military stated that the targets included weapons depots and buildings used by Hezbollah to plan and direct attacks from the border region. A command center located in a former hospital building was also struck, which the IDF said had recently been used by Hezbollah members for observation and artillery missions.
The strikes were a response to a Hezbollah drone attack targeting Israeli soldiers on the Ali al-Taher ridge on Saturday. Two explosive drones were launched toward the troops, but the IDF reported no Israeli casualties.
The Israeli military asserted that the targeted sites were used to prepare attacks against both soldiers and Israeli civilians. It also accused Hezbollah of repurposing medical facilities for military purposes.
The IDF stated that it took measures to minimize civilian risk before the strikes, including the use of precision munitions and aerial surveillance.
