Romanian National Team Player Rejects Offer From Top Israeli Club

Romanian national team player Olimpiu Moruțan has reportedly rejected an offer from a prominent Israeli club, according to Romanian media. Moruțan's agent, Giovanni Becali, stated that the player turned down a lucrative contract from an Israeli team competing in European tournaments due to unspecified "problems" in Israel. Becali indicated that Moruțan preferred to stay with his current club, Rapid București, despite the financial benefits of the Israeli offer.

Becali elaborated that Moruțan had previously refused an offer from Israel during the summer transfer window. He suggested that the issues in Israel might relate to the fact that European matches are only played as away games, implying a security concern or logistical difficulty. While not disclosing specific financial details, the agent confirmed the Israeli offer was significantly more valuable than Moruțan's current contract.

Moruțan, a 27-year-old midfielder, has earned 18 caps for the Romanian senior national team. His career includes stints at notable clubs such as Steaua București, Galatasaray, Pisa, and Aris Thessaloniki. He has amassed over 100 appearances for Steaua București, contributing numerous goals and assists, and also played in Italy's second division for Pisa.
