IDF Chief of Staff Warns of Volatile Period Across All Fronts
The Chief of Staff, Aviv Kochavi, conducted a situation assessment on Sunday following the commencement of a surprise military drill, codenamed "Dawn's Ascent 2.0." The drill, which began early Sunday morning, simulates a multi-front war and aims to test the Israel Defense Forces' readiness for a wide range of threats and rapid security escalations.
During a special operational assessment with the General Staff Forum, Kochavi closely examined the IDF's preparedness for simultaneous deterioration on multiple fronts. He emphasized the current tense and volatile period, particularly in anticipation of the upcoming holiday season.
"We are in a tense and explosive period across all arenas, and we are preparing for the upcoming holiday period. We continue to learn lessons, and as I have defined, the fundamental state of the entire IDF is readiness for a surprise attack," Kochavi stated. He added that the exercise simulates a multi-arena war, allowing the IDF to test its readiness at all levels and systems, as well as the currency of its orders, from the General Staff down to field units.
