IDF Chief of Staff Warns of Tense Period, Prepares Forces for Holidays
The Chief of Staff of the Israel Defense Forces, Lieutenant General Aviv Kochavi, conducted a situation assessment with the General Staff Forum on Tuesday as part of a surprise military-wide drill, codenamed "Dawn's Ascent 2.0." The drill commenced Tuesday morning.
During the assessment, Kochavi stated, "We are in a tense and volatile period across all fronts, and we are preparing for the upcoming holiday season. We continue to learn lessons, and as I have defined, the fundamental state of the entire IDF is readiness for a surprise attack." He emphasized that the current drill is a significant component of the IDF's preparations for the approaching holiday period.
The drill, "Dawn's Ascent 2.0," is designed to test and enhance the military's readiness for unexpected scenarios, particularly in light of the heightened regional tensions and the approaching Jewish High Holidays, a period often associated with increased security concerns.
