Rotem Sela Joins Board of 'Shavim' Organization for People with Disabilities

Media personality and actress Rotem Sela has officially joined the board of directors of the 'Shavim' organization, which advocates for the rights of people with disabilities and their integration into Israeli society. Sela will serve in this role on a voluntary basis, aiming to leverage her influence to advance the organization's goals.

This move signifies Sela's transition from a media supporter to an active decision-maker within a prominent Israeli human rights organization. Her involvement with 'Shavim' deepened following her work on the Channel 12 program 'Special Interview,' where she guided a group of interviewers on the autism spectrum in conversations with celebrities. Sela described this experience as a turning point, highlighting the power of giving people with disabilities a platform to speak for themselves.

'Shavim,' founded in 2019 by journalist Idan Motola, operates Israel's largest news platform dedicated to the lives of individuals with disabilities. Uniquely, all its reporters have disabilities themselves and undergo rigorous journalistic training while being fully compensated.

Motola and the organization's CEO, Yuval Shani, welcomed Sela's appointment, emphasizing her commitment and the significant boost her presence will provide. The organization has been instrumental in promoting the inclusion of people with disabilities in media, society, and employment through initiatives like the annual 'Purple Night' awareness campaign and journalistic exposés that have led to legislative changes and policy shifts.

Sela's appointment to the 'Shavim' board coincides with her expansion into the business world, including the recent launch of her own nutritional supplement brand, 'Better,' following a three-year development period and an investment of approximately 8 million shekels.
