Feiglin Backs Netanyahu if Right-Wing Government is Option

Moshe Feiglin, chairman of the Zehut party, stated in an interview with "Mekor Rishon" that his party will recommend forming a right-wing government, even if it is headed by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. This comes after Zehut's agreement to run on a joint list with Bezalel Smotrich's Religious Zionism party, which is aligned with the right-wing bloc and Netanyahu.

Feiglin, who is slated to be second on the joint list, had previously been critical of Netanyahu, stating in January 2025 that the country needed "completely new leadership" and that Netanyahu and his ilk would "certainly bring us the next round" of conflict if not replaced. He also called for parting ways with "that visionless leadership that led us to the brink."

When confronted with these past statements, Feiglin clarified that Zehut's primary commitment is not to form a left-wing government. "First, I have been committed for many months that Zehut will not form a left-wing government," he said. "We are part of the national camp, and no one suspects me of bringing left-wing views."

He explained that if the choice is between a right-wing and a left-wing government, Zehut will prioritize recommending the right-wing option. Feiglin added that if the majority of the national camp continues to choose Netanyahu, he will accept the public's decision. "Zehut will not recommend the left bloc but the right, even if it is headed by that same visionless leadership," Feiglin stated. "We are not left, and if I have to choose between something that is not left and what exists, and what exists is Netanyahu, then what can be done, out of necessity I will choose him," he concluded.
