Tens of Thousands Attend Selichot Prayers at Western Wall
Tens of thousands of worshippers gathered at the Western Wall in Jerusalem on Saturday night for the central Selichot (penitential prayers) service. The event was led by Rabbi Yaakov Ades, with participation from Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, the Rabbi of the Western Wall and Holy Sites, and Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich.
During the service, Minister Smotrich stated, "Together with tens of thousands of worshippers, I had the merit to participate this evening in the special Selichot ceremony at the Western Wall. Alongside reciting the Selichot, we prayed for the success of our fighters and for the victory of the national camp in the significant period that lies before us. Act for your right hand!"
The Selichot prayers are traditionally recited in the days leading up to Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, and are a significant part of the High Holy Days period.
