Over 50,000 Attend Main Selichot Prayer at Western Wall Amid Record Participation

More than 50,000 people gathered for the main Selichot prayer event at the Western Wall overnight, marking a significant rise in attendance this year. Since the beginning of the Hebrew month of Elul, over 350,000 worshippers have participated in Selichot prayers held at the Western Wall plaza during the first half of the month alone. The Western Wall Heritage Foundation noted a substantial increase in participants not only at the central events but also at nightly gatherings, where thousands come together to recite Selichot prayers throughout Elul.

During the event, Mordechai (Soli) Eliav, CEO of the Western Wall Heritage Foundation, led the crowd in heartfelt prayers for the safety of IDF soldiers and security forces, national unity, and peace and security for Israel. The next main Selichot gathering is scheduled for Saturday night at 12:15 a.m., expecting thousands of worshippers to attend once again.
