National Security Minister Ben-Gvir Vows to Continue Gaza Deportation Plan Despite Threats

Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir reacted sharply on Thursday to a report that a Hamas operative who had planned to assassinate him was released in a hostage deal and subsequently acquired weapons for terrorist activities. Ben-Gvir stated that despite numerous threats against his life, he would not be deterred from advancing his policies.

"A minister was already murdered in Israel, Rehavam Ze'evi 'Gandi' z"l, who raised the idea of voluntary emigration," Ben-Gvir began, referencing a past assassination. "Ten times they tried to harm me, to assassinate me, and to threaten my son, my family, and my children. They try to harm me because they fear the policy I am leading."

The minister emphasized that the revelation proves the danger of releasing terrorists in deals. "A Hamas operative who planned to assassinate me was released in the hostage deal, and it now turns out he acquired weapons for terrorist activity," he noted. "This is further proof that such deals endanger the lives of Israeli citizens."

Ben-Gvir reiterated his commitment to his path despite the threats. "I will not be deterred and I will not stop," he declared. "I will continue to advance the 'Disengagement 710' plan, which will voluntarily deport all residents of Gaza, strengthen governance on the Temple Mount, worsen the conditions for terrorists in prisons, and implement the death penalty law for terrorists."

The minister thanked various security agencies for their work in protecting him and his family, including the Shin Bet, the Prison Service, and the Israel Police. Ben-Gvir also recently became a political focal point due to the defection of Knesset member Tali Gottlieb to his Otzma Yehudit party, and his public criticism of journalist Anat Kamm.
