National Security Minister Ben-Gvir Vows to Continue Policies Amid Hamas Threat

Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has responded to a report alleging that a Hamas operative, initially arrested for allegedly planning to assassinate him and later released in a hostage deal, managed to acquire a weapon suspected for terrorist activities. Ben-Gvir stated that this represents another threat in a long series of attempts against him and his family over the years, drawing a parallel to the assassination of Minister Rehavam Ze'evi.

Ben-Gvir asserted that these threats will not deter him from his political path or alter his policies on security, terrorism, the Temple Mount, and the approach to security prisoners. He vowed, "I will not be deterred and I will not stop," emphasizing his commitment to advancing his agenda, including his plan called "Disengagement 710," which promotes the voluntary emigration of Gaza Strip residents.

Furthermore, the minister declared his intention to continue efforts to strengthen Israeli sovereignty on the Temple Mount, toughen conditions for security prisoners, and advance legislation for the death penalty for terrorists. Ben-Gvir linked the threats to his assertive stance on national security and policy matters, suggesting they stem from opposition to his strong positions.

He concluded by thanking the security agencies, including the Shin Bet, Magen Unit, Israel Prison Service, and Israel Police, for their ongoing efforts to protect him and his family and thwart potential attacks. Ben-Gvir ended with a message of resolve, stating, "He who believes is not afraid."
