Maccabi Haifa Defender Betai Injured, Taken Off Field on Stretcher
Maccabi Haifa defender Yila Betai suffered a head injury during Saturday's match against Hapoel Petah Tikva and was stretchered off the field in the 20th minute. The Belgian player sustained a forceful blow to the head from a ball during a corner kick. Although he initially continued playing for a few minutes after the incident, Betai eventually fell to the ground and required medical attention.
Iyad Halaïli replaced Betai in the right-back position. Halaïli had previously substituted for Betai in a tactical decision during Maccabi Haifa's loss to Maccabi Tel Aviv. Despite this, coach Messay Dego had opted to keep Betai in the starting lineup for the current match.
Betai will undergo further medical examinations to assess the extent of his injury. The team is reportedly concerned about the incident.
