Israel's National Cyber Directorate has warned the public about fraudulent SMS messages that appear in the GOVIL message thread and look like official notices about unpaid Highway 6 toll debts. The directorate stressed that these are not legitimate government messages and do not indicate a breach of the messaging service.
According to the warning, the links in the texts lead to a fake website designed to steal personal information and payment details. The agency urged people not to click the link and not to enter credit card information.
Instead, motorists were told to check any charges only through the official Highway 6 website or app. Suspicious messages can be reported to hotline 119.
