Rapper Macklemore Calls for 'Free Palestine' During Ed Sheeran Concert
American rapper Macklemore, performing as an opening act for Ed Sheeran at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on September 4th, called for "Free Palestine" and performed his song "Hind's Hall." The address was accompanied by visuals and received applause from the audience.
Speaking to the crowd of over 80,000, Macklemore stated he had not forgotten "those living in Gaza and the West Bank." Some attendees reportedly left the venue before Sheeran's performance, expressing strong disapproval of Macklemore's message.
This is not the first time Macklemore has publicly supported the Palestinian cause. In November 2023, he spoke at a pro-Palestinian rally in Washington D.C., accusing Israel of "genocide." He released the song "Hind's Hall" in May 2024. In September of the same year, he chanted "Fuck America" at a pro-Palestinian concert in Seattle, which led to his removal from a music festival program in Las Vegas.
