Bloomberg reported a 14-point memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States that lays out a broad framework for ending hostilities and opening negotiations. The draft calls for an immediate end to the war on all fronts, including Lebanon, and says both sides would pledge to respect sovereignty and avoid interference.
Under the reported terms, the two countries would negotiate a final agreement within 60 days. The United States would lift the naval blockade and withdraw its forces from the region within 30 days, while Iran would restore ship traffic in the Persian Gulf. The memorandum also says the status quo would be maintained until a final deal is reached.
The document reportedly envisions major economic and political concessions for Tehran, including the removal of all sanctions on Iran, immediate exemptions for Iranian oil exports, and a US reconstruction plan for Iran worth $300 billion. In return, Iran would declare that it will not produce nuclear weapons.
