Maccabi Netanya is preparing changes in defense, and Georgian center back Saba Khvadagiani is expected to go out on loan next season. Khvadagiani, 23, is set to return to action next month after being sidelined since September with a torn ACL. Netanya paid half a million euros for him about two and a half years ago.
The loan move is intended to help show that his injury is behind him, while the club still views him as a player who can contribute in the future. The report says Netanya does not plan to sell him at this stage.
Interest has instead centered on his replacement, Bakary Konate. The Mali defender arrived in February from Cribas for 500,000 euros. Netanya has received several offers for Konate, but for now it intends to keep him, and he is expected to remain the team’s leading center back this season.
