Israel Renews Search for 12 Lebanese Jewish Leaders Murdered in 1980s

Israel has reportedly received new intelligence regarding the fate of 12 leaders of the Lebanese Jewish community who were abducted and murdered in the 1980s. The information includes potential burial sites for their remains. The intelligence was presented to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during a meeting with the U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon, Michel Issa.

For several months, Israel has been engaged in efforts to locate the missing individuals, coordinating with Lebanese authorities. Gal Hirsch, who is responsible for the file of hostages and missing persons, is leading these efforts. Information, maps, and documents have been shared with the Lebanese side, which has commenced field searches.

As of now, no human remains have been recovered. The issue is also part of ongoing discussions between Israel and Lebanon, with the United States involved. According to i24NEWS, the progress made on this case was a factor when Netanyahu authorized the release of five Lebanese nationals.
