Netanyahu Orders Intensified Search for Remains of Lebanese Jewish Leaders

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered an intensification of efforts to locate and repatriate the remains of Lebanese Jewish community leaders who were kidnapped and killed by terrorist organizations in the mid-1980s. The Prime Minister's Office announced that Israel and Lebanon have recently undertaken several on-the-ground search operations.

This initiative is linked to a decision to release five Lebanese citizens detained in southern Lebanon, which is under IDF control. Investigations determined that these individuals were not involved with terrorist organizations or activities, and there were no grounds for their continued detention. The release is seen as a reciprocal measure within the context of the ongoing negotiations and search efforts.
