Netanyahu Orders Search for Remains of Lebanese Jewish Leaders

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered efforts to locate and return the bodies of Lebanese Jewish community leaders who were abducted and murdered in the mid-1980s by terrorist organizations. The directive was issued as part of ongoing negotiations with Lebanon.

In recent months, both sides have undertaken extensive operations, including ground activities, to find the remains. As a result of this joint effort, five Lebanese nationals detained in southern Lebanon were released. Investigations confirmed they were not members of a terrorist organization and had not engaged in terrorist activities.

The prime minister's office announced the directive, highlighting the progress made in locating the victims' remains. The release of the five Lebanese citizens is seen as a reciprocal gesture following the cooperation on the search operation.
