Father of Nova Festival Victim Attacked in Acre

Natan Kuperwasser, whose daughter Shani was killed at the Nova music festival on October 7, 2023, was assaulted on September 3 while walking his dog with friends in Acre. Two local residents, approximately 20 years old, were arrested on suspicion of the attack and had their detention extended by four days by a court.

Kuperwasser told Ynet that the incident began when another dog, without any identification, attacked his small dog near the market. As he intervened to separate the animals, a man punched him, and another joined in the assault. Kuperwasser expressed distress that bystanders did not intervene to help him.

He recounted that after he and his friends began to leave the area, and he believed they were safe, he called the police. At that point, another individual approached, struck him in the face, causing him to fall. "It was just horrible," he stated.

Police informed him of the suspects' arrests. Kuperwasser commented on the brutality of the attack, stating, "I lost the most precious thing I had in the October 7 tragedy, and now people are attacked like this. It's monstrous."

The police reported that the suspects "brutally beat a father who lost his daughter, following a conflict over their dogs, while claiming that their dog was initially attacked." The two suspects, residents of Acre's Old City, were apprehended by Acre police during raids on their homes on September 3.
